If you stack Battleships and Cruisers, they can't dodge very well and tend to drop quite fast when focussed, even if they are tankier. Kinetic Artillery (or Large slot Missiles), Torpedoes (preferrably Explosive), Bombers and XL weapons (Giga Cannon or Arc Emitter) can really cut down on their numbers before they can get into range. Most of the Unbidden's weaponary is medium range.

Try and stack long range weapons if you can. Arc Emitters really are the go-to XL in general, expect a nerf on them. The Contingency got nerfed pretty hard in 1.8.2 since they lost their Arc Emitters for Tachyon Lances. Considering how much shielding the Unbidden have, and Arc Emitters ignore all armour and shields, they seem to be the go-to XL slot weapon. Bombers don't break off until their target dies, so the portal had 100s of bombers blasting it while my main fleet tried to tank 5 Unbidden fleets.Īrc Emitters are also quite OP. In a 1.5 game, I zoned into the Unbidden portal system right next to the portal, and all my bombers dog-piled on it. You may also want to try Missiles (especially Explosive Torpedoes since they slip past shields) and Bombers, as they have no Point Defense or Strike Craft of their own. They still use heavy shields and low armour (their ships are barely corporeal after all), so stack Kinetics. Not had he Unbidden since 1.8 but here are some tips: They did buff them to be less vulnerable to counter fleets, but I'd imagine they still apply. You will want some of these "artillery" battleships in your overall mix as it will give your fleet reach. However, if you can lay hands on Giga cannon and kinetic artillery techs, you will want another alternate battle ship design that takes advantage of that: 1 GC + 4 KA. Since you already have a carrier battleship, keep that design and make some more of those. The unbidden don't appear to have much (any?) in the way of point defense so going a bomber and missile heavy route is also an options. Giga cannons, guass series, and Kinetic artillery are good well rounded weapons that decent against both shields and armor. Having some disrupters isn't a terrible idea but the unbidden are not just shields you will have to eat through the hull points as well. It pays to have versatile fleet but certainly don't invest any more heavily in PD than what you have now. Unless you have reason to believe otherwise, I wouldn't invest too havily iin point defense or fighters. The game can change anything through patches but in the past, the unbidden did not use fighters or missiles. You might have to ride shotgun in a federation or something. Really even 30K seems very underpowered at this point. At 160 years in your fleet should be MUCH stronger than 10K.
